The book at sale is a True First Edition/First Printing in Fine condition. It meets all first-issue points. There is an ‘A’ on the copyrightpage and there is no colophon (which is correct for this book). The year 1940 appears on both the title pageand copyright page. The boards arecovered in tan-buckram cloth and Hemingway’s signature is clearly stamped intothe front. Theboards areclean. Thespine with the red colored title block is lightly sunned and in very good condition. There are no names or bookplates. There is typical spotted foxing at the paste-downs. The interior is very nice throughout. The 471 deckled pages are clean and crisp.
