You are purchasing a cookie jar with no lid manufactured by the Fostoria Glass Company in the American pattern (2056). The cookie jar is bright and clear without any staining.

Condition: As stated there are a few discontinuities on the cookie jar. On the inside edge, there are approximately 4 small abrasions. I have provided a close up of two of these abrasions. Note: The macro featureonmy digital camera was utilized tophotograph these small abrasions. In photograph(9) the pencil is pointing at one of the small abrasions andto the right at approximately1 inch a second small abrasion can be seen. Photograph (10) is of the exact same area only at a slightly different angle. Photograph (11) is of the exact same abrasion as photograph (9)using a slightly higher magnification. The size of the abrasion can be judgedby comparing it to the pencil point.Photograph (12) shows a small scratch on the outside top of the cookie jar. The two small areas that can be seem above the pencil are those abrasions shown inphotograph (9), (10), and (11). Also note that it appears that the clear band along the top insde of the cookie jar is scratched or shows abrasions this is not the case the band is bright and clear. The light reflecting off the American geometric pattern must be creating this condition. None of these small discontinuities negatively effect the cookie jars appearance. This is a beautiful dramatic piece.I realize that this seems to be an excess amount of detail regarding the condition of the cookie jar. The fact is these are very minor discontinuities. They are there and need to be identified. If you had the cookie jar in your hand these discontinuities would be easy tojudge and would not negativelyeffect your purchase. Not havingthe jar inyour hand, you need as a complete description as possible.

Size: 5 3/4 inches tall., 5 3/4 inches diameter.

During the next 4 to 6 weeks I am planning to list on all the Fostoria American in my collection. Approximately 150 pieces. This includes glasses, plates, sherbets, bowls, compotes, etc. and a punch bowl with cups. All pieces are Fostoria American (three mold marks on bottom). No pieces are American Whitehall or other. If you are interested in any particular piece contact me (email) and if I do have the piece you are interested in purchasing it will be listed on sooner rather than later. If I do not have the piece, I will let you know. If you are going to purchase multiple pieces of my Fostoria American you can contact me regarding combining shipping the pieces. Please note that the combining of pieces to ship will be affected by: number of pieces, weight and shape. Fostoria American are fairly heave glass pieces. NOTE: If you are purchasing multiple pieces (stemware, tumblers, plates, etc) you may find there is a small difference in size from one piece to the next piece. This is due to the manufacturing methods used when the glass was produced and/or the fact that the pieces may have been purchased at different times.

Shipping cost includes packaging materials when applicable and insurance cost.

Mission Statement

I have been collecting EAPG glass, depression glass, and other types of glass for a number of years. I have recently decided it is time to sell a large part of this collection. I am going to attempt to sell the majority of my collection in multiple pieces of a company\'s product line. For example: Fostoria American, Anchor Hocking, May Fair, Federal Glass, Sharon Cabbage Rose, Imperial Glass, Candlewick etc.I would appreciate any comments on this sales concept verses selling single item pieces.

The majority of my collection was acquired in various tag and estate sale sales in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Notes/Comments on Vintage Glass

My items are available for sale in an \"As Is\" condition. All the glass being sold is vintage. This means the glass pieces were manufactured between 1890 and 1960 unless stated otherwise (most pieces were manufactured from 1900 to 1940). The glass being sold is USED, it is not NEW. In many cases the quality of the glass does not equal what is being manufactured today. The manufacturing methods were not modern. The result of these manufacturing methods is they item may have:

  • \"Straw Marks\"
  • Rough Edges
  • Bubbles
  • Mold Marks
  • Other Discontinuities

These items are not usually found in modern glass. These are to be EXPECTED in vintage glass. Also this glass was probably used at the kitchen or dining room table, it was then washed. It may have been taken in and out of the ice box or refrigerator. The results of these actions are that many of the pieces may exhibit surface scratches or other type of wear discontinuities.

I will attempt to identity any discontinuities found in the glass, by describing the discontinuities and if possible showing them in my pictures (not always an easy thing to accomplish).

Fact: I am not a glass expert. I will do my best to describe the glass and identify discontinuities. It is possible I might describe a condition different than you would describe it. It is also possible in some cases we would both look at things differently.

Read my description carefully. Look at the pictures carefully. Utilize the blowup the zoom feature. In doubt ask a question. This may help us both to \"see\" what the other one sees. Neither of us wants to have an item to have to be returned. NOBODY WINS.
