Four (4) Vintage Souvenir China / Plates, Harker USA, c. 1900\'s-1910\'s.Harker Company China / Plates were typically sold as souvenirs at local five and dime storesThese finely made China / Plates were made by the famed Harker Pottery Company of East Liverpool, Ohio, and later Chester, West Virginia. Harker is commonly called the \"Oldest Pottery in America\". It started in a log cabin in 1840 by Benjamin Harker, and remained at it\'s original site for ninety-one years. In 1931 the plant moved across the river to Chester, West Virginia, and took over the old Edwin M. Knowles plant.According to the \"Collector;s Encyclopedia of American Dinnerware\" by Jo Cunningham, the \"Jeanette Glass Company bought the Harker Company, and closed it down, in March of 1972. Stamped on front: SOUVENIR OF GILLETT, WIS.Makers mark stamped on back: HARKER 1840.Approximate Measurement: 6\" diameter.No chips or cracks; excellent vintage condition.
