The FREE traps are simple and use plastic beverage bottles for the catcher..recycle/reuse concept....you can simply throw away the bottle with the dead bees in them, empty and reuse them, even relocate them if you feel sorry for the little guys..but your neighbors may not feel the same about you later...A carpenter bee does not just drill one little hole and be happy with that...It drills an entrance hole, turns right or left..continues drilling so that it has plenty of tunnel space to lay the larvae..each time it lays an egg/larvae, it closes off the chamber and repeats the process...it may also keep going right past the original entrance hole and start another nursery wing...so when you see 1 hole...don\'t be deceived! That bee may have a whole family in there.
The queen bee is larger and you will hardly see her, she is busy with the kids...but the \'drones\' or males, with white faces will hover near the entrance of the nesting hole and make a dive at you and terrorize your guests and kids! I have always heard that the \'white\' face carpenter bees won\'t or can\'t sting you, but the \'black\' faced larger Queen is equipped with a stinger and can sting you. I personally do not take chances with either
