Frederic Remington \"A Pull at the Canteen\" Print Etching Buffalo Soldier:
$89.99

For sale is a print by Frederic Remington entitled \"A Pull at the Canteen\". I do not know if this is an original or a 20th century restrike of the 1888-89 original. The image size (plate impression size) is 4\" by 3.75\". The impression in the paper and the fact that I can feel that the ink is raised-up on the paper indicates it was not created with a photographic process, but is an etching or engraving. The rub marks on the back of the also supports this conclusion (see pics).
The paper size is 10\" by 8\". It is in great condition with no folds, foxing, stains, holes or fading. There is a pencil point sized \"bump\" about an inch to the right of the horse\'s lower rear leg. It appears to be a flaw in the paper. Since it is the same color as the paper and small it is not noticeable. This print is one that Remington created after visiting Fort Grant in Arizona for his article \"A Scout with the Buffalo Soldiers\" printed in Century Magazine in 1889.
