French Art Nouveau Wood Box with Hand Hammered Metal Overlay:

This rare box was found in France and is designed to holdtwo wine cups or timbales. Of course you can put many other things in it aswell. The box has a classic Art Nouveau motif, with flowing lines, flowers andbeetles. The closure is a clasp that folds over a button. This is a rare boxboth because of the design and the function.

The box is in good condition, considering its age, the topdoes show some scuffs and signs of use, there is a small piece of missingveneer in the back. Otherwise the box is sound, with good hinges and a veryunique purpose. The timbales are for illustration only.

Measurements are: 6” by 4 ½” and 3 ¾” tall.
