From my research many are right there is just not very much information on theMan A. D. Mougin and that is a shame because he made a very fine clock. But in this listing I am going to share as much as I can about him and about the clock you are looking at. However I certainly would be interested if anyone has additionalinformationthey can share.
Circa 1890\'s CLOCK and/or Garniture Set

Antique French BronzeFigurative and Monumental Mantel Clock, circa 1890\'s. This is a gorgeous Pair of Bronze ladies with lots of fine details. The clock case is a real beautywith a rich ornate design, which has been finelymolded.It ishighly unusual to come across such a large and elegant antique, solid castbronze, and the Green and cream Onyx stone workings and in my opinion to be of museum quality. The movement is in good working condition. The enameleddial is inpristinecondition with unique designed numerals for the hours, which is excellent for a clock that\'s beenused for over 100 years. The dial is protected by a beveled glass door window,which is in excellent condition with no visible damage. The Key is fancy and in good condition. ThePendulumis Thieble Suspension (pendulum bob) appears 1870

There is a plaque under the ladies that says::: THIOMPHE DE LA SCIENCE. In English this says Triumph in the Science, Researching this has not really helped a lot but you will find tons of information about Triumph in the science over Death and I have no proof that this clock and that information are tied together. However you will find tons of statues at this time period for this TH......Science and they are not the same. It would be interesting to know exactly who, and the significance this clock was made. I think there is a much bigger story here. If I were to guess I would think it was made for a specific person and ofNotability. How the clock managed to get to the USA would be another interesting story I am sure. The one lady is holding a scroll it begins with Science and I have been unable to make out the rest of the words.

The movement is an 8-daykey wound and the rear of the movement is stamped by A.D. Mougin 6179 along with thewell known star and is marked \"Duex Medailles\". The Duex Medaillesand star are Mougin\'s trademarks that symbolize two medals he won from exhibitionsduring his career prior to 1900. A.D. Mougin was a well known French clockmaker who was located at Rue de Turenne 75 Paris in 1870. The clock comes witha pendulum and key. (I believe the Pendulum and Key to be original to this clock) The entire clock is in excellent overall condition. Amassive and heavy clock that you can\'t take your eyes off of.

I have had the clock over 20 years. I purchased it from a man in St. Louis MO. and unfortunately no longer can remember his name. However his collection of clocks waspossiblyone of the most lovely Victorian Clock Collections I have ever seen.

Internet Information Below:::

A DMougin around but he is listed as working in Herimoncourt in the late 1800s
whichis in the Montbeliard region of France one of the main clock making areas.
Mouginis said to have exhibited roulants in 1900 and as his trademark contains
DeuxMedailles he presumably won two medals at exhibitions.
Accordingto Allix his name appears on a wrapper of Japy blanc roulants for carriage
clocksso he obviously sourced some roulants from Japy and finished them.

Candelabras::::

There are a pair of Candelabras which match the Clock. There is only one spot of damage I have ever seen. The oneCandle holderyou will see in the top center or middle has one petal on the side that is damaged. The legs on all pieces are great and the metal workings are lovely with tons of detail. Most of the pieces are pretty easy to adjust. The marble/Onyx bases areabsolutelywonderful matching the clock perfectly. There is no damage to them. Creamy Greens and darker Greens. Gold plated feet on all the pieces just set them off...... Outstanding

Clock stands 22 inches tall, 13 inches wide and 8 inches in depth. These measurements are themaximum.

Weight :::: Candelabraseach weigh approx 9 pounds

Clock weighs approx 25 pounds

I will not put all three pieces in one box. There will be 3separatebox\'s. They will also be shipped with insurance for the full value. I would prefer to work out all shipping details with the buyer to make sure we agree on how much insurance is to be placed on each piece and what works best for both parties.
