MARTI, SAMUEL et Cie was a well-known maker in Paris in the mid-late 1800s. In 1863 he worked with two other well-known makers Roux and Japy Freres in promoting their clock movements, and won certificates for excellence as follows1860 - Medaille de Bronze1889 - Medaille d\'Argent1900 - Medaille d\'Or1931 - Grand Prix, ParisThe fact that this clock bears their bronze emblem gives us a date between 1860 and 1889, most likely towards the later end of that period.Antique French S Marti & Cie Medaille De BronzeMarble Two-Tone Three-Piece Mantel Clock Set, 21 3/8 inches wide, 14¾ inches in height, 5.5 inches deep. Thetwo side pieces are 6 inches wide, 4 ¾ inches deep, 10 ¾ inches in height. The measurements are all approximate. The clock dial is 4 ¾ inches indiameter. The clock has an openmovement. It runs, but does notkeep good time. The back of the movement has the words, “SMarti & Cie, Medaille De Bro[nze]”.The bottom of the movement has the numbers “74 38081”. Comes with key, not original, but it worksfine..the chime also works. The pendulum will be removed for shipping. Good condition overall but great condition for its age,the marble top has been broken and repaired and small chip on the left side near the back as pictured, it works but very sensitive time can vary some times fast or slow by many minutes a day .sold in as is condition.It has never been serviced or cleaned by me. the chime functions the two sided key is not original to this piece but works fine., it works but very sensitive .sold in as is condition.
