This is just 1 item that we acquired from the Baron and Marquis sale sale recently and more will be listed in the coming days. Their collections are very eclectic and beautiful, please read brief background of owners below.
See pictures for this beautiful antique hand fan used by the Baron and Marquis. It is beautifully hand painted on silk of 3 girls in my guess a French setting and signed by Brusel. Note that there is a full split of the fabric that detaches the left first carved stick from the second: see picture 3, and for posterior aspect on picture 11. Otherwise showing natural wear due to age with some small splits at each seam. A truly beautiful piece! It measures 16\" wide x 9\".
Baron and Marquis brief history
A Brief Introduction of the Owners of the Estate Property from the estates of Baron Franz Von Mock-Hoeft (1930-2009) and Adrian the Marquis de Gradoloff (1916-2002) Silverton, Oregon and formerly Los Angeles, California. Baron Franz Von Mock-Hoeft was born in Prussia in 1930. After losing his father in the war ,he and his mother were forced to flee from their castle. As he was no longer apart t of the privileged class, he found work dancing in the European opera\'s. He later moved to the United states where he began his modeling career. In Los Angeles, he also worked for max factor and managed the Joe Blassco makeup school for many years. Adrian the Marquis de Gradoloff was born in 1916 to an Uzbekistan father and an Aristocrat French mother. It is said that when his parents wed, they received gifts from last Emperor of China P\'u Yi. His extensive collection of fine porcelains, furniture, and fine Jewelry, made him well respected in the antique community. The Baron and the Marquis made their residence in Pasadena, California where they mingled and made friends with many in the celebrity world. The flamboyant pair always had a knack for wowing all in the attendance at the party or reception they were invited to. Often, the pair would show up extravagantly draped in the Marquis expensive collection of jewels and diamonds. In full regalia, they moved in 1990 for health reasons to Silverton Oregon, with their 13 cats, where they lived out the remainder of their lives.
