CONTENT: Opens with a long introductory chapter which outlines the development of watercolour painting in France and then gives a general survey of the art during the period setting within its social context. The plates are augmented by fully documented commentary and stylistic assessment; a section provides information on the technical methods used by the watercolourists and a final section contains biographies of the artists whose works have been reproduced.
