This is one of a small group of genuine antique georgian grand tour plaster intaglios made early 1800,s that i have listed.I have more from a different collection being listed next sunday.They are all gilt paper wrapped and NONE are numbered.But all have original written descriptions on the edge.A couple have old material backing from being in frames that i have not removed.
This one shows Achilles,with a fillet in his hair,with a shield decorated with the signs of the zodiac and a spear.( has Achilles on the edge).The original stone carving was by Frewin and is in the Fitzwilliam museum cambridge.This is listed as an unpublished Tassie number 3115 by the Beazley archive.
