Very rare antique Victorian carved natural tortoiseshell locketnecklace, inlaid with gold and shell Pique.

CIRCA 1880

Extremely beautiful piece,in amazing condition for age.Each individual panel is carved from natural shell and inlaid with gold pique work, measuring 5.5cm x 3cm

Condition: odd dot of pique missing.One tiny dot at base missing on one panel.

Each panel 4 in total,has been thread through slots, onto ribbon.

The locket, measures :5.5cm x 3.5cm x just over 1cm deep inc holding ring.

Condition:Pique is perfect,as is shell.Internally it has one original glass lense secured by holding ring.I cant remove this,and wouldn\'t be the one to try just in case I damage it.The locket is closed on secure hinge,by tiny catch that has to be lined up with tiny hole on opposite panel,secure snap closure.

The locket is hung on ribbon by shell andvelvet bale.

A most beautiful original antique piece.
