Up for sale here is an amazing Mikimoto, high lustre, cultured Akoya 7mm pearls and solid 14 carat gold brooch.
This is a large and heavy brooch; it has been superbly crafted. The pearl cluster is well set, bright, with slightly pink-tinted, large trademark genuine Mikimoto pearls, all beautifully matched as one would expect. I have just had this checked over at a jewellery store in my town which happens by chance to have a person who was a Mikimoto buyer for many years working there - she was most impressed by the item and confirmed all intact and in good condition. This beautiful brooch is marked 14K and features the makers mark M in a clam shell - please see the high resolution photos. This is a genuine Mikimoto brooch in a genuine Mikimoto case. This really is made to an extremely high standard and the wearer could hold her head up high for the most formal occasions in this - it is perfectly suited to being worn to a wedding, dinner, ball or the opera house. It would make a brilliant present.This is a rare, vintage, piece. The gold weight on this item, discounting the pearls which also have an intrinsic value, is high for scrap value alone, so the buy it now price reflects this scrap value as well as the high quality craftsmanship and design.
The gold pin at the back is slightly curved from wear. It works perfectly. The item has been worn and is vintage, so some minuscule signs of wear are present but these would really need to be seen under magnification. It is very well preserved and I have done what I can to give very good high spec photos so that the item can be viewed from all angles.Please see the photos which show what lovely condition this item is in. In particular please view the picture that I have taken of the reverse of the pearls in a macro close-up to demonstrate that all is as it should be - no replacements or glue residues and no horrible dirt or hairs, as one sometimes finds on unwrapping this type of jewellery!
