George Clews & Co CUBE Teapot Patent 1921 Art Deco Design – SOLD
In 1917 Robert Crawford Johnson registered a patent for his CUBE teapot. The disign was entirely different from anything people had seen before, The spout being in the top corner and not protruding this avoiding drips and knocks. The handle was recessed and made lifting the pot safe and easy. George Clews & Co Ltd supplied their tea sets for use in the state rooms of the liner Queen Mary.This pot is 12 cm Cube and incorporates a strainer on the inside, and there is a small hole in he lid for steam.
