George Ii Silver Baluster Caster Or Pepperette London 1748:
A solid silver George II ogee baluster caster or pepperette, hallmarked for London 1748 with a makers mark that is worn but could well be G?.
This nice Georgian caster features an ogee baluster base with a pierced and decorated top, which fits snugly. The hallmarks are on thebase of the body, the marks to the top are either not present or completely worn, there is also a worn heraldic crest on one side. The caster is in good order for its considerableage, there are several shallow dings, mainly on the waist of the body, but no splits or repairs, it has a very slight wobble to the foot. The caster stands 13cms high, it weighs 87.5g, a nice collectable and useable piece of Georgian silver .
