THIS LOCKET NECKLACE IS STUNNING!!!

This is a wonderful, vintage, and very hard to find cabachon locket, carved and hand painted in West Germany. It features araised reliefgold colored horse head on a stunningebony black glass background. These cabachons are over 50 years old. It is a beautiful intaglio andis an 18mm by 13mm oval glass cabochon, set in a vintage gold colored brass locket.It is hung on a 16 inch vintage brass chain.
It is in perfect condition. Stunning!!!

There are no scratches, breaks, discolorations or damage of any kind. The charm displays excellent workmanship, the kind not seen anymore. This is a truly beautiful vintagegold colored brass locket, and hangs from agold colored pendant clasp. The locket is decorated with etching around the outside of the glasshorse headpiece. The locket opens to reveal spaces for two of your favorite pictures! This piece is something vintage and unusual, and something you don\'t see much of anymore. Perfect for the horse lover.

These cabochons were sometimes called intaglios, rosettes, reverse crystals or \"Cabs\". They date back to the 1940\'s and 1950\'s (maybe even the 30\'s!) and are extremely rare and highly collectible. These \"cabs\" or cabochons contain intaglio images or scenes. Each piece was hand painted into a reverse carved image. These amazing pieces of art were first manufactured during the Victorian era. Because they are so tiny and intricate it is difficult to manufacture them today. Current high manufacturing costs make producing these crystals cost prohibitive. As a result, these crystals have become sought after rarities and collectors items.

Anything available now has survived over the years and is not a new item.

This packaging is necessary to make sure theseglass pieces arrive in one piece and undamaged. My wrapping has evolved overthe years, as the Post Office pays no attention to a package marked fragile!This does not include any money for my time, or the price of gas to and fromthe Post Office.
