GORGEOUS VICTORIAN LADIES VANITY BOX WITH JEWELLERY DRAWER & FITTINGS c.1875
A beautifully proportioned vanity/ necessaire box complete with an assortment fittings (see note below.) This would undoubtedly have been an expensive item when originally purchased in the latter half of the19th Century. Please see the photographs which form an integral part of this description - but which quite frankly do not do justice to the overall \"look\" of the box and it\'s contents.Externally, the box is in good order and the highly figured veneer has a fabulous rich colour. The structure of the case is in sound condition.Internally, as can be seen in the photos, there is a complete arrangement of bottles/containers. Each of the bottles/containers has a silver plated lid or glass stopper. There is also a selection of manicure tools.The box lid is lined in a deep blue rouched velvet. Behind this is a vanity mirror and a \'secret letter\' folder (see photo). The mirror has clouded with age.The box has a shallow jewellery tray located in the base and secured by a release pin inside the body of the box.
The box has a key which when locked secures the box and the drawer.A delightful and charming vanity box which is full of character.
