This fabulous vintage Santo Domingo turquoise and mixed materials thunderbird necklace with white beads measuresapproximately 23-3/8\" in length and the thunderbird measures approximately 2-1/2\" tall by 1-3/4\" across the wings. These Santo Domingo items were made of found materials and were the first jewelry items for which the Santo Domingo Pueblo became well known. The red typically came from red plastic dinnerware or Dairy Queen spoons. Plastic from car batteries or old vinyl records was used for the backing. Weighs 67.3 grams. The clasp is silver and how I purchased it, but may not be original to the piece.
