Regarding grading of Bank Notes -As noted by Krause: \"Grading is the most controversial component of paper money collecting today\". I do my bestto adhere to common practise in grading. If you don\'t agree with my grading, you have full right of return, no questions asked. These are the terms I use:

  • Uncirculated (UNC): A perfectly preserved note, never mishandled. Paper is clean and firm, without discoloration. Corners are sharp and square without any evidence of rounding. I include French printed notes, which usually have a slight ripple in the paper, into this category.
  • About Uncirculated (AU): A virtually perfect note, with some minor handling. An AU note cannot be creased, a crease being a hard fold which has usually \"broken\" the surface of the note.
  • Extremely Fine (XF): A very attractive note, with light handling. May have a maximum of three light folds or one strong crease.
  • Very Fine (VF): An attractive note, but with more evidence of handling and wear. May have several folds both vertically and horizontally.
  • Fine (F): A note that shows considerable circulation, with many folds, creases and wrinkling. May have minor tear(s) in border area, but may not have a center hole.
  • Very Good (VG): A well used noted, abused but still intact. Corners may have much wear and rounding, tiny nicks, tears may extend into the design. No pieces of the note can be missing.
  • Good (G): A well worn and heavily used note. No large pieces of the note may be missing, graffiti is common.
  • Fair (FR): A totally limp, dirty and very well used note.
  • Poor (PR): A \"rag\" with severe damage becaues of wear, staining, pieces missing, graffiti, larger holes, etc...
