Here we have an old Pottery Duck. It is a fairly large item.
This duck was made by The Spaulding China Co. of Sebring, Ohio. Spaulding operated from 1942 to 1957. They produced lines called Royal Copley, Royal Windsor and of course Spaulding. This duck was once a part of a set of ducks, six in all, which was named the \"Game Birds of America\". They were marketed under the Royal Windsor line. Spaulding\'s chief designer was a man named Anthony D. Priolio. This one is the Gadwell Hen figure. Gadwell refers to a breed of duck. These ducks were some of the finest produced by Spaulding and were marketed in high end gift shops. At one point these were selling for about $200 each. The drake, or male recently sold for $177 on .
This one in the set is considered the \"Large Royal Windsor Gadwell Hen\". One of the highly sought after \"Game Birds of America\" series, and mate to the coveted Large Royal Windsor Gadwell Drake. CONDITION: Perfect except for one chip on tip of wing as shown in last picture.
Dimensions: Almost 7\" tall. About 9 1/2\" wide from beak to farthest tail feather. About 4.25\" deep.
