Ifyou have been looking for a beautiful and finely detailed “Whiz”fan to begin or add to your collection, you may never fine one ofhigher quality and detail. This fan is finished in “Pullman Green”custom mixed to closely match the original GE color. This fan hasbeen totally restored in every detail and is the model with thebuilt-in on/off switch. These fans were produced beginning in 1924and were one of the most popular GE models because they were veryaffordable compared to other larger models. This is a single speedmodel featuring an on/off switch with brass blades. This fan is veryquiet and runs very smooth with nicely balanced blades.

Thisfan has been totally disassembled and all originally painted partssand blasted clean. These parts were then filed and sanded smoothprior to applying coats of epoxy 2-part automotive primer. Then,after wet sanding, two coats of 2-part automotive acrylic enamel wereapplied in Pullman Green. Then two coats of 2-part clear-coat werethen applied over the green enamel for additional hardened protectionand then rubbed out for a lasting shine. I think the photos show thetrue color and beauty fairly well.

Theold wiring has been replaced from head wire to line cord using “oldstyle” cloth covered wire, soldered and heat shrunk to the statorwhich has been fully inspected and coated with liquid insulationwhere needed. Finally, a new antique style plug was installed ontothe new cloth line cord. The switch contact surfaces have beencleaned and adjusted for positive action. New rubber grommetsreplace all of the old original ones. All of the brass componentsincluding screws, oil reservoirs, nameplate and badge have beenfinely polished with clear coating applied for added protection. Thebrass fan blades are highly polished but can be clear-coated beforeshipment if desired at the buyer’s request. The oil reservoirshave been cleaned with new wicking installed, adjusted and filledwith fresh oil to provide positive shaft lubrication. New green felthas been tightly applied to the base to protect table or furnituresurfaces.

Thebrass blades measure 9-inches in diameter and the cage is 10 inchesacross. The base is 6 inches in diameter and the total heightincluding the cage is approximately 12 inches. This fan weighs 6pounds and will weigh 11 pounds once properly packed for safeshipment. As the cages on these Whiz models are fragile, the cageand blades will be removed for shipment and packed separately usingbubble-wrap, blocked in and double boxed for safe delivery. I willprovide insurance for the full sale amount and make sure your fanarrives safely as pictured. Reassembly is fairly simple but I willprovide the buyer with detailed instructions to make sure.
