[a] JAPAN /Greater East Asian War Discounted Treasury Bond – 20 Yen [ca. 1942, calculateShowa Year to calculate Exact Date, see red characters upper right] Ship vignette left, Tank Vignette right + light greenplane underprint at ctr. Large denomination “10” at ctr. on back. Theseinterest-bearing bonds were sold to finance the war effort. The red seal at lower left ctr. is theofficial seal of the Japanese Finance Ministry. The bond is circulated, borders have edge wear andnicks + “v” shaped folding divots at top and bottom ctr. commencement ofvertical crease lines + many micro-nicks and micro-tears of less than 1/2mm, 1xctr. hole from folding, corner rounding, staining which includes a faint paperclip rust stain at top center, bond was printed on fairly heavy paper stock andhas retained a portion of its original crispness.
