not sure of the age but think 1940s genuine rawhide weighted gaucho bolas used for catching animals in south america . The weight may be lead covered in rawhide when held from the handle part the weights are just over 3 foot to the ground, very good condition

a bola is a throwing weapon made from a series of connected strings with weighted balls at the end of each string. Bolas were used to wrangle livestock or bring down game by tangling limbs and preventing the animal from fleeing.
