Thisknife is a slight variation on the4 other nearly identical pieces, with less condition issues than the current example,we currentlyhave availablein this Acorn pattern. Here, the blade is marked \"STAINLESS STEEL,\" and \"GEORG JENSEN, COPENHAGEN.\" We have this variation, with blade wear,plus another Jensen 9.8 inches length dinner knife available with alternate maker\'s mark. Weare continuing todispersea large estate collection of Jensen flatware, primarily in this Acorn pattern,so collectors will want to check out our other current listings.

GeorgJensen, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, began his career as asilversmith with the opening of his first business in Copenhagen, Denmark, in1904, towards the end of the Art Nouveau period, and leading into the Art Decoera. Jensen design is associated morewith the contemporaneous Arts & Crafts Movement, which emphasized a moreaustere aesthetic over opulent design. Johan Rohde was a Danish artistwho first commissioned Georg Jensen to create silver for his own use. Thetwo were so mutually impressed with each others\' work that an influentialcollaboration was established.

Thispattern was first introduced by the Jensen company in 1915, duringthetransitional period between Art Nouveau and Art Deco, and appears tostill be in production today.

This example measures 9.8 inches length total, and the sterling handle measures 4.1 inches. Shorter dinner knives in this Jensen pattern consistently sell at sale for well over $100, and this size is very difficult to find other examples of! We are offering this particular piece at a reduced price merely due to the edge wear.
