Lovely little pocket watch sampler. Made to insert into the back of a pair cased watch of the period. A small reminder every time your loved one took out his watch. Excellent condition and strong colours. The embroidery is on a very fine mesh which has been carefully stitched to a piece of Georgian paper which has been cut with a toothed border. No holes or tears in the paper. There are two spots of some cogealed substance in the centre of the heart. I suspect actual blood from the two sweethearts. Dates c1790-1820. Measures 4.5cm diameter. It still retains the concave shape of the watch case. But I daresay it wouldn\'t be too hard to press flat if you preferred it that way.
