German Majolica Inkstand- Cats Riding Penny Farthings:

Nicely glazed majolica inkwell/ inkstand depicting 5 green/grey cats riding individually on what appears to be penny farthing bicycles of the period. Only the front cat\'s rear wheel is slightly visible. The magenta glaze is highlighted by floral sprays in blue, green and pink. The lid has a minor interior chip only to the bisque surface, invisible when displayed and only mentioned for clarity, as it truly has no bearing on the piece. Possibly in the making, as the lid has a crude finish to the underside. Only marked on bottom of base 1 1 7 2. Some ink residue to the unfinished bisque surface of well, lid, and feet. No insert is include, not sure if there ever was one. 8 1/8\" long, 2 3/4\" tall and 4 1/4\" deep, a nice crossover collectible for majolica lovers, inkwell people and cat aficionados.
