Up for offer is an original German reissued French model 1866 Chassepot bayonet in very good condition. Its sharpened 22.5 inch blade is marked B and starred MG in ovals on its side and Mre d\' Armes de St. Etienne Aout 1867 on its spine and another proof the other side. Blade has dark patina spots and minor oxidation spots. Cross guard is marked F 31037, German unit mark 13.L.II.2.31. starred T, B, crowned O in ovals. Cross guard has oxidation and brown patina. Brass handle, affixed with two pins, has no cracks, and has some scratches. Pommel press-stud functions well. German reissued scabbard has a crowned D on its frog stud, maintains 40% of its black painted finish and has some oxidation spots. A very good original German reissued French Chassepot bayonet!
