Just when you think you\'ve seen it all, here comes a NOS (New Old Stock) COMMUNIST Christmas TABLE TOPPER! We bought some store merchandise from the attic of an old Communist era shop in former East Germany. The owner closed the store the day the Berlin wall came down and bolted for Western Germany, economic opportunity, and a vast array of all kinds of manufactured good compared to the tiny amount of stock available to his old fashioned and miniscule shop under the Commies. He never looked back or came back, so his relatives just cleaned out the place and sold me some fascinating Communist Christmas stuff! This table topper is in the original clear wrapper and has never been used. The material is typical of the era and Communist East germany where everyone but the politicians were poor as church mice. It\'s a sort of a cross between a pressed cloth and a paper. These fabulous table toppers were intended for use during one Christmas season. You put them on top of a small table and placed your Christmas pyramid or table top tree (both lit with real candles) and the table topper looked festive and it protected the table top from drips of wax. They were also used to cover the table top for holiday parties and you arranged platters of cookies on them and the table topper protected the finish of the table from drips and crumbs. If I were to use this, I\'d cover it with clear plastic to protect IT from crumbs and wax drips, the design\'s that pretty! At the end of the holiday season the table topper was discarded, these weren\'t meant to be kept. HOWEVER, THIS IS JUST TO PRETTY TO TOSS! The fanciful design of European Santa, old fashioned sleighs, flaxen haired children, toys and a fanciful old German village are like a fairy tale come to life! Size is approximately 24\" square. This table topper is even more charming in person! Pick up in Pompton Plains, NJ or will ship first class mail at buyer\'s expense.
