The Germans in WW2 used distinctive yellow Flags emblazoned with a black skull and crossbones to mark the vicinity of land mines. These land mine markers became popular war souvenirs with GIs in the ETO, as they were easy to carry, and menacing in appearance. This German WW2 SKULL + CROSSBONES LAND MINE MARKER is in good condition, with some scattered whitish spot soiling and small printing error lines to the skull and crossbones design at front and back, some fading to that design at back, some scattered brownish spot soiling along each side of the top edge, a deep bend to the middle metal stake, moderate scattered surface chipping to that stake, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the marker is in fine shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage to the tough yellow cotton construction. Most interestingly, it carries a distinct black skull and crossbones design emblazoned at front, which also remains visible from the back, and is mounted on the original red finished metal stake.
