ONE JUST SOLD FOR $5.170.00 AT HERITAGE sale : SEE LOT 4268 OF 2017 AUGUST 2-6 ANA US COINS SIGNATURE sale-DENVER#1258 The plaque has it\'s original patina that has become a beautiful greenish brown. A 175mm Bronze uniface medal of Abraham Lincoln has been affixed to the upper left corner of this apx 21 1/2 x 28 1/2” GORHAM COMPANY cast bronze plaque. The plaque is in near mint condition. The medal, type of King 303; obverse of Smedley 84, is signed V.D. Brenner at left and bears Brenner’s famous portrait of Lincoln facing right. It is dated 1809 in the left field and 1909 in the lower right field. The plaque contains the complete Gettysburg Address in 23 lines. Inscribed at the bottom, \"Gettysburg November 19, 1863 \" and a facsimile of Lincoln’s signature. At the top of the plaque is a molding. The plaque has four grooved screw holes at the corners for mounting. The original mounting was on a green marble slab.This imposing plaque was first sold by The Gorham Company in 1909 and offered by them up through the 1930’s according to a brochure ca. 1935, ‘“Gorham Commemorative Bronzes for Schools and Colleges” . Gorham cast these plaques in two sizes. The smaller size is 15\" x 21\". This is the ultra rare LARGER size which measures apx 21 1/2 x 28 1/2”. According to H. Joseph Levine of Presidential Coin & Antique Company, \"We have yet to see one of these larger size pieces and are aware of only six or so in this size\"This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.
