I am selling one of several of my Gibson Les Paul Smartwood Exotics. It is a 6 String Solid Body Right-Handed Electric Guitar. The color is brown color with a slight hue of red. Gibson made the Smartwood Exotics from 1998-2002. They contained the words \"Smart Wood\" on the truss rod cover. They were similar to The Paul, except: (1) They were made of wood certified by the Rainforest Alliance; (2) They had a Curupay fingerboard, dot markers, and \"Smart Wood\" on the truss rod cover; (3) They had gold plated hardware; (4) They had a top cap of either Ambay Guasu, Banara, Curupay, Peroba, or Cancharana wood (beautiful rare tropical woods harvested from a sustainable forest in Paraguay); and, (5) They had a natural finish. This Smartwood Exotic was made in 1998. As you can see, mine has the Smartwood truss rod cover and the Smartwood Series stamp on the back. It is the Cancharana model which is the predecessor to the Muiracatiara (I say this because the color is extremely similar)) which they started making after they stopped making the exotic models (They started making the Muir model in 2003).I am selling one of my Smartwoods because I can only play so many guitars and I need the money. This is the last one I purchased. I got it 2 years ago so I figured this would be the one I would sell. Last in, first out. After I got it, I purchased a brand new hardshell case for it which I am including in the sale. As I understand it, every bit about this guitar is original and I would say this guitar is in near mint condition. In the pictures, you can see that this guitar is extremely well maintained. In the interest of full disclosure, there is a small indentation running down a small portion of the back of the neck. This was there before I purchased it. You can see it in one of the pictures. I took it to Guitar Center to have it checked out and they indicated that the indentation was an imperfection in the wood, but that it did not affect its playability and was not an issue for the guitar. I have not found it to be an issue either. It also has a few dings and scratches. After all, it is used. By the way, I must mention that the sound of the Smartwoods are incredible. They have a very interesting tone to them. Plus, it’s a Gibson. Need I say more? And if you are into saving the world, well, this guitar was made from woods from well-managed forests, certified in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the Forest Stewardship Council and a portion of the sales were donated to benefit the Rainforest Alliance. By the way, there have been articles written about this guitar and it has been featured in books about the Gibson Les Paul guitar so you can check out the information to make sure that what I am telling you is accurate. This guitar was housed in a smoke free home in the basement with a Humidex system. I am not offering returns since if you know this item, you know its worth and it is in near mint condition.
