Goerz made terrific lenses. This lens is made by the U.S. version of Goerz. TheArtar lenses were highly corrected lenses, originally used for reproduction.This is a 4 element air spaced lens. The apochromatic (apo) designation meansthat red, green and blue focus at the same point. About the same time Goerzbegan putting a coating on this lens they also put the red dot designation,marking the more modern version of the lens. This one has clean coated glass. Inaddition to a smooth diaphragm it has a filter slot, so you could put in acustom diaphragm. Stops down to f64. It has a flange for mounting, which seemspermanently attached. No caps. No shutter. A really nice little lens,especially if you want to do close work or even macro with a large format lens.Will cover 4X5, at least, at infinity, much more at close distance. Please givethis lens a good home, it’s hard to part with.
