This globe does have seams; therefore, we assume it to be a reproduction. The metal ring is attached to the globe. Paint could use some touchup (or not) as shown on the photos. This item will be insured when shipped and the shipping cost is high due to the size of the box and the 35 pound weight. We have used pillows, a blanket, bubble wrap, styrofoam, ect. to attempt to protect the glass globe from any damage.
