Gold-Filled Hand-Carved Shell Cameo Brooch; Open Square Frame, SUPERB CARVING:

This is a fine vintage, beautifully hand-carved shell cameo brooch, set ingold-fill. I believe the brooch dates back to the 1940s-1950s or so. The cameo itself is channel-set into a gold-filled oval-shaped bezel and then mounted onto a gold-filled, sort of oval-shaped frame. AND - the frame and cameo are set againonto two open concentric square (actually, rectangular) gold frames. Refer to all photos included with this listing.

The rectangular-shaped brooch measures1½\" down by just over 1¼\"across. And the oval-shaped cameo itself measures 1¼\" down by just over 1\" across. Featured is the right-facing profile of a lovely young woman with elaborately styled wavy hair with two large petaled flowers in back. She also has an even larger petaled flower on her right shoulder, looks like a shasta daisy. The brooch is not signed, but a very reputable dealer assures me that this is indeed gold-fill.

The carving on this is superb! In fact, this is the type of fine hand-crafting that you often see in 14kt and 18kt gold settings. Overall condition is VERY GOOD toEXCELLENT. You see NO damage or anything else wrong. The cameo is perfect! She is just beautiful.
