Here is an interesting mining card showing one of the globe\'s less well-known gold operations, Mines de la Belliere, Saint-Pierre-Montlimart, Marne et Loire region of France. The black and white card shows a large complex of the mines and \"Usines \'or, vue de l\'Est.\" -- \"Gold works, seen from the east.\" The card has some corner and edge wear, corner album marks and postmark ink on front. The stamp has been removed.

The card was posted on 7-2-09 from Paris to Hornsey, London, arriving on the next day. The message is in English and mentions the works.

According to a French website offering company share certificates, the mine operated from 1905 to 1952, producing more than 10,000 kilos of gold, plus some silver and arsenic and making it one of the main French gold mines. Apparently people are returning to the area now to look for remaining traces of gold.

A quick online search didn\'t turn up any other cards from the mine, so this card is probably scarce.
