This is the beautiful khokhloma ware - wood covered with clay and several layers of oils, and painted by hand, then heated and varnished.The distinctive black and gold colours are quite charming - but despite appearances, these items are indeed made for use, not just for decoration,but PLEASE do not put them in the dishwasher!
The very shiny, smooth varnish and bright colours make this tableware difficult to photograph.There may be white patches on the photographs - these are reflections and the effect of the camera flash.The item itself is in good condition.
