I have never met anyone that has had anything good to say about him, including county and government officials. What this fraudster does is stake a claim then to get out of paying the fees and taxes to the County and BLM goes out to each claim every 91-94 days and replaces the paperwork with a new location date never filing the claims. This type of fraudulent mining claim staking is called a bad faith location and not valid. Then to top it off when he sells a claim he charges the buyers all the filing fees on top of what you paid for the claim. Please before buying any claim from anyone please ask for the BLM serial number and county recording number. Hopefully this information will save someone a big headache. The claim totals 20 extremely rich acres and approx. 1300 feet of Turnback Creek frontage. The claim sits at a perfect year round mining elevation of 3100 feet very little snow here usually. The placer gold is derived from numerous hard rock deposits that sit directly along the creek on the claim. In fact part of the old Ophir placer mine and Yellow Jacket Lode is on the claim. Driving Directions
From Tuolumne, Ca take County Hwy E17 towards Twain Harte. Stay on E17 for 3.40 miles and turn right onto Old Buchanan Mine Road. Stay on this road for 2 tenths of a mile and turn left on a dirt road which takes you too a very nice treed camp area along Turnback Creek on the claim. From the turnoff going to campsite the claim runs upstream 1400 feet. If you pass Old Buchanan Road for 1000 feet on the right there is another access road accessing the upper end of the claim. You will see a small pile of dirt in front of the road that needs to be removed and can be removed. I would put in a gate after removing the small pile of dirt. This road is actually paved in spots and was probably the old County Hwy E17 many years ago. There is also really nice spots to camp off this road. This claim is accessible by 2 wheel drive vehicles year round as the claim sits at a mining friendly elevation of 3100 feet. Feel free to sample as needed. Soulsbyville Mining District History
Location. The Soulsbyville district is in west-central Tuolumne County in the general vicinity of the towns of Soulsbyville and Tuolumne. It includes the Arrastraville and Buchanan areas.
History. This district was placer-mined during the gold rush. Lode mining began in the early 1850s, and there was a rush to the district that began in 1858 after Ben Soulsby discovered rich ores. The mines were worked on a major scale until about 1915. There was some activity during the 1920s and 1930s, and there has been minor prospecting and development in a few of the mines since. This has been the most productive district in the Sierra Nevada east gold belt, with a total output value to be at least $20 million.
Geology. Granitic rocks, of which granodiorite predominates, underlie the west-central portion of the district (fig. 24). These granitic rocks are intrusive into slate, schist, phyllite, and quartzite of the Calaveras Formation (Carboniferous to Permian). Limestone is to the south and west, and the interstream ridges to the north arc capped by andesite. Numerous dioritic and aplitic dikes are present, often associated with gold-quartz veins.
Ore Deposits. A large number of unoriented gold-quartz veins occur in both the granitic and metamorphic rocks, usually ranging from one to five feet in thickness. The ore bodies are often lenticular in shape and contain native gold and often abundant sulfides, especially galena, which is nearly always associated with the gold. Milling-grade ore usually ranged from V2 to one ounce of gold per ton, and considerable high-grade ore has been mined in the district. The maximum depth of development is 1500 feet.
