Nice example of a mid-late19th century button referred to as a Cut Steel button by collectors. Made c. 1850-1900 it is a simple button with 6 concentric rings surrounding a round faceted center steel. The border ring is of 12 each 5/16ths inch elliptical or marquise shaped faceted cut steels. All in all there are nearly 100 steels in this button. Each of the steels has been hand riveted into the button. It measures 1 1/4 inch in diameter. It is highly domed. It has a very large elongated wire shank. In excellent antique condition; commensurate with age.
