Description

This is a beautiful locket from the early to mid 19th Century; late Georgian/Regency era, perhaps into the early Victorian period.

Of circular form, this is tested SOLID 15ct yellow gold to the back and front, with probably, a gilt strengthening ring.

As can be seen, this is beautifully \'engine\' patterned to the back, the front having its original, bevel-edged crystal glazed LOCKET compartment, housing several coiled sections of HAIR.

This front section can carefully be removed, (it might be better form a jeweller to do this), and the hair usurped for keepsakes of your own if so desired.

It measures 3.9 cms including its jump ring/bale, by 3 cms diameter and weighs a hefty 9.1 grams, 0.320 ounces, excluding its chain. Other than the most superficial blemishes, it is in a very good condition.

The blemish shown to the front edge is an old \'acid\' test spot which has since been polished and improved on. It is fitted on a MODERN, but suitable, rolled gold or gold-filled box-link chain of 17 inches length.
