Rare Portsmouth, New Hampshire 1780s Chippendale chair with pierced splats in refinished cherry.An early American 18th Century Chippendale Chair- Typical form but of Mahogany c.1780 Portsmouth, New Hampshire Dining Chairs in refinished very dense Santo Domingo Mahogany, with slip needlepoint covered seat, 18.75\" seat height, perfect for contemporary comfort. Dimensions: 39\" tall, x 19.\'\' w x 20.5\"deep. Wonderfully shaped vernacular Portsmouth ears with characteristic Portsmouth pierced splat. Good base, nice detail, attractive finish and seat fabric. Bonafide 1780s Chippendale chair. This chair matches a pair I recently sold, but from a different estate. I\'ve been collecting early American antique furniture for nearly 35 years. Many of the pieces of furniture have been in my collection for a long time, but we have downsized. The chair is very heavy. The patina and coloration of this chair are phenomenal!
