Stock Code: JGA278Gorgeous Rare Antique Victorian 9ct Gold Back & Front Large Oval Locket PendantA gorgeous and rare antique victorian 9ct gold back and front large oval locket.The frame is base metal with all the outer casing been 9ct solid gold, it has been acid and XRF tested as such.A scarce design with centre compartment which currently houses a photograph on one side complete with glass and frame. The other side just has the original velvet, there is no glass or frame.
The outside of the locket has lovely engraved detail with each having a blank cartouche which has not been engraved. It looks like there was a small inscription on the inside of one side of the locket which has unfortunately worn away.
Probably originally for a watch chain or on a bookchain collar necklace but could be easily hung from a necklace with addition of a jump ring.An uncommon and scarce example, a nice size and weight.Comes packaged in organza bag.Would make a lovely present for any occasion or a treat for yourself!!No Markings - Has been tested as 9ct gold with base metal frame - 9ct back and front.Weight: Approx 15.7gMeasurements: 2 1/8\" drop - 1.5\" long x 1.25\" wide ~ 54 - 38 x 32mmCondition: Good Used Condition for age, the inside has no glass on one side but has the original velvet and photo with glass to other side. Usual surface wear for antique piece with minor dints, cartouches are blank and unengraved, the locket shuts properly, both click shut - Some tarnish to frame and inside with old test marks.
