Primitive Gout Footstool Foot Rest Hand Carved Early 19Th Century

Primitive gout footstool that is in the form of a rocker.

The stool is madeof a hard wood, and is a deep color.

I\'m notsure if it is a stain or the woodcolor. The

footstoolwas hand carved and has mortise and tenon

joints. Therockers were attached with a nail as shown

in the photo.Please see photo\'s.

I picked this primitive gout footstool up at an estate sale.

The elderly womentold me it had been in her family for

five generations. This type of footstoolis commonlycalled

a gout stool, designed to ease the discomfort of gout sufferers.

24\" long front of the rocker foot rail to the top of the back rest
19\" tall from the floor to the top of the back rest
9 \" tall from the floor to the top of the center vee
12.5\" wide side to side
