Bought this about 40 years at a house sale. An old Victorian family that traveled a lot. It is called a Caryatid Mirror. At one time the metal was polished to a high sheen to obtain a reflective surface. It shows a man standing on a turtle supporting the mirror. Unlike mirrors with handles, the Caryatid stood on a table. It is made of bronze, looks like it was buried for a long time and a great patina. Has that Etruscan look. Interesting piece of bronze. It stands 15\" tall, disk is 7 by 7\", base 2 1/2\". Please see all pictures as they are part of the description. Ask questions before offerding. Marble base for display only.
