Grumbacher Oil Paint 37MLTube Chinese Vermilion Rare & Valuable Find N.O.S:
$100.00

For your consideration in this sale is a special and rare find. One tube of Grumbacher\'s Finest Oil Paint Chinese Vermilion Deep in the 37ML tube size.

This is an excellent quality paintproduct. It is not a hue or some other synthetic pigment substitute. It is not a blend of pigments. It is 100% expensive and genuine Mercuric Sulfide ( aka Genuine Vermilion) pigment.

This new old stock Grumbacher is unused and unopened. The tube does have some dents from long term safe storage particularly at the bottom crimp where the tube is \"squished\" in. There are no leaks or tears in the tube. Please examine the listing pictures.

The \" Finest \" designation on the tube predates the more commonly known \" Pre-Tested \" designation that has been used for 40 years or so. I cannot determine the precise age of the tube but I would surmise it is at least 50 to 60 years old. In my humble opinion, it is superior to any grumbacher product made today and holds its own with any premium quality artist oil paint.

Please review all listing pictures and feel free to ask any and all questions prior to offerding and buying. Please also check out my other artist material listings. Thank You.

Please note as a new old stock item there may be some easily resolvable issues that can present.

1. Dried paint plug in the threaded neck of the tube.

Resolution: Gently squeeze or scrape out the 1/2 inch bead of dried paint to reveal fresh new paint.

2. The tube has experienced oilabsorptionand the paint is a little thick.

Resolution: Add medium and/or turps to suit your needs to arrive at the proper paint consistency.

3. The tube has experienced oil separation and there is loose oil at the top of the tube.

Resolution: Simply drain the loose oil from the top of the tube with a gentle squeeze.

4. The physical tube is fragile due to age and years of prolonged safe storage.

Resolution: In some cases older fragile tubes can crack and break when squeezed and folded for regular use. In such cases the paint can easily be re-tubed with an empty tube available at your local art supply house.
