This 19th. century child’s wood handledknife & fork in impressed “JOHN ASKHAM SHEFFIELD” w “V “crown’ R” above theother mark. The handles are secured w tiny brass pegs, but the knife’s handlestill sustained a long crack down the middle of one side. The knife bladeappears to be steel, but the nicely designed fork’s metal may be pewter. Thewood is rather non-descript w no grain seen on its pale tan/brown surface. Thefork measures 5 1/8” long by ½” wide; the knife is 7 1/2” long by ¾” wide. Theknife has a plug at its end involved in securing the blade. A lovely pairindeed.
