Hallmarked Silver Card Case 1899 For Sale

For sale here is a fine Sterling Silver Card Case hallmarked in Birmingham in 1899. It is approximately 90mm or 3 ½” high and 60mm or 2 ¼” wide it will hold a standard size credit card but nothing much bigger, weight on my postal scales is 54 grams. The case is in excellent condition for its age, it is very well polished and virtually scratch free, I have found three tiny dings, easily missed, but no dents or there damage, there are a several minor surface blemishes nothing particularly noticeable, also if you look across the surface of the back of the case it is not completely flat. The top is hinged, the hinge is nice and firm and the top closes very neatly, the inside is clean and is gilded, there is also gilding to the top edge of the body where the hallmarks are. The hallmarks are good and read; maker W.H.W, Anchor for Birmingham Assay Office, date letter ‘Z’ for 1899 and Loin Passant for Sterling Silver, inside the top is stamped with the Lion and the ‘Z’.
