Here\'s a great looking cobalt decorated salt glaze stoneware jug from Fort Edward, New York made between 1867-1872.....

HAXSTUN OTTMAN & CO FORT EDWARD NY (stamped into the pottery on front shoulder) Large cobalt slip trailed flower on front....

Grey saltglaze stoneware.....1 gallon jug with applied handle.....11\"tall....Good condition, but has 3 hairline cracks, all near the top. One comes down 2 1/2\"inches through the embossing.....another one is 3 1/2\" and on the right shoulder from embossing. The 3rd one is on back of lip and less than 1\". No other damage. A stained spot on lower front.

Andrew Haxstun & William Ottman began their partnership in 1867. Their pottery was called the \"Hudson River Pottery\" because it was located on the Hudson River. Haxstun left the pottery in 1872 and Gilbert Ottman took his place as co owner. The company was now called Ottman Brothers. This is a great looking cobalt decorated jug made between 1867-1872.
