HGU-55/P flight helmet Broken Arrow movie prop ChristianSlater.

HGU-55/P flight helmet movie prop created for the 1996film Broken Arrow named to Christian Slater.

I purchased this helmet from a Kansas City militariacollector who bought it and several other helmets from the estate of the guywho was the director of aerial photography for the 1996 film Broken Arrow.

The name Christian Slater is written on the inside of theliner. My friend did not know that most of these helmets were named until afterhe got them back to Kansas City.

I am NOT trying to IMPLY that Christian Slaterautographed the helmet. My guess is the prop department wrote that on thehelmet when it was prepared for him.

I believe this helmet was either used in, or created for,the scene where John Travolta tries to shoot Christian slater in the head (seepictures) in the cockpit of the B-2. This helmet has a slot ground into theleft side which I believe is for the explosive charge to simulate the gunshot.

I am nottrying to misrepresent this helmet and I cannot prove Christian Slater everwore it on screen nor can I prove the rest of the story but I can say the guywho sold the helmet to me is an old friend, a really great guy, has always beenhonest with everyone and had no reason whatsoever to misrepresent the helmet. PLEASELOOK at the PICTURES and READ the DESCRIPTION before placing the winning offer onthis helmet. Do your research and due diligence BEFORE you offer.

Ibelieve this is a real HGU-55/P shell. It is a small size. I don’t know how bigChristian Slater’s head is but according to Wikipedia he is 5’ 9” tall so he isa small guy.

Thehelmet is in fair condition as you might expect a movie prop to be. There isonly one oxygen mask receiver and it looks like it is made of carbon fiber,There are two comm cord plugs – one on each side of the helmet – which is odd. There is also odd nonmilitary wiring inside the helmet which I assume wasinstalled by the prop department.

Thevisor was torn off when I got the helmet with just the visor straps remaining.I assume the reason for this was the filmmakers wanted to imply that the visorwould have been “blown off” by the gunshot. In some of the pictures I postedyou can see I have added an intact HGU-55/P dark visor and that is how Idisplayed it. I will include both the torn off straps and the intact visor forthe winning buyer.

Buyers in the lower 48 United States pay a fixed cost of$15.00 shipping. Alaska, Hawaii and international shipping will be calculatedat the time of purchase.
