A Vintage 1953 wire photograph capturing the path to the top of the world - the famous peak of Mount Everest. This photo was issued when it was reported that Edmund Hillary of the 1953 British Expedition became the 1st man to summit the mountain. Original press stamp and a JUN 3 1953 stamp date is on the verso. Some editorial markings and enhancements are on the obverse as the photo was used in newsprint publication to report the news at the time of this landmark moment in the history of man.
