For your consideration a gorgeous and HUGE, Early Santa Claus Embossed Die Cut Ornament and Display piece with his Original Cotton Batting Skirt, Crepe Paper Trim and Red Foil Stars. Measuring 19 1/2+ inches tall encased in a sleeve with a cardboard backing that measures 21 inches in height x 13 inches wide. This is a very difficult piece to find - and to find intact. I say an ‘Ornament’ as He was originally made to hang at the very top of a large Christmas Tree and sit ‘center stage’ as the Christmas ‘Tree Topper’. For those of you that collect or follow Early Christmas, he has been seen in very early Antique photos hanging at the center or top of Christmas Trees. And to find him with his original boots is almost impossible - as the boots typically fell or broke off. This gorgeous Santa has been preserved in this sleeve, with a thick cardboard backing surrounded by archival tape for almost 50 years since 1969. That is when he was placed in this sleeve - Not when he was made. He dates to the Early 1900\'s. His Original Provenance as shown in the photos and noted on the back: **He was purchased at the Spring Armory Show in 1969. Owner or Dealers name in the back \'Evelyn Hyman\', along with a detailed description of his condition (at the time in 1969 which has not changed). Also noted was an original purchase price of $9 ‘no tax’ as noted. He’s never been taken out of this sleeve since 1969 - And there’s no reason to unless you want to hang him on a tree (which you can do in this sleeve as it has a tie on top) or you can remove him, and have him framed as the Beautiful part is = he is NOT glued to the back. The glare and swirling of the front thick plastic sleeve in the photos does not look that way in person - it is Flat. Note: the noted ‘blistering’ noted on the back is that his glossy litho is finely crackled due to age and does not detract as he displays beautifully.
